Thomas William Grigg
He was born in 1884 in Middlesbrough. He was a coal hewer living at 37 School Street, Eastwood View, Rotherham with his wife Annie and son Thomas William born in 1908.
He enlisted into the Territorial Force 5th battalion York and Lancaster regiment, service number 1740, in April 1913 but was discharged as being medically unfit for active military service in October 1914. He re-enlisted in January 1917 for home service in the 35th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, based at Herne Bay in Kent.
He died in Rotherham on 14 March 1917, aged 32, and is buried in Moorgate cemetery in a paupers grave marked by a Commonwealth War Graves Commission headstone.
