He was born in Rotherham 1895 and he was a cabinet maker, living at 4 Warwick Street, Rotherham with his father Robert, mother Elizabeth, brother Frederick Percy and sister Blanche.
He enlisted in Rotherham and served in the 2nd/5th battalion York and Lancaster Regiment service number 240810. He would have enlisted on the same day as his brother Frederick.
Killed in action 3 May 1917, aged 21, he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
